Handmade by mothers in the informal settlements outside Cape Town, Philani products are well-known for their vibrant colours and lively, uniquely South African designs.

Reasonably priced and individually produced, Philani products make creative, high-quality gifts.

Larger orders keep our mothers busy during the winter months when we do not see as many tour groups passing through our doors and visiting our shop.

We are especially good at producing corporate gifts so keep us in mind if you are thinking about a unique bag to give out at your next conference.

Every handmade Philani product is completely individual offering you a uniqueness that is hard to find.

All Philani woven and printed products are made to the highest standard of quality and are machine-washable, run-proof and ironable.

With each Philani product you purchase, you will help to empower a South African mother, assisting her in improving her own and her children’s lives.

Mothers are self-employed and at least 65% of any item sold goes directly to the mother who made it. The other 35% is retained to meet part of the cost for materials and training.

We are environmentally friendly; all our woven products are made from T-shirt material recycled from garment factories and because all products are handmade, very little energy resources go into making them.

The Services We Offer

Using the techniques depicted below we are able to custom-make products for our customers.

We are able to apply any of our print designs to any of our printed products and can design a print especially for you.

We are able to ship items to customers but please note that all shipping costs will be for the customer.

Our shop is open from 8:30 – 16:15 Monday through Friday, and we would love you to come visit us.
