VISIT PHILANI

We welcome individual visitors and tour groups to our Development Centre in Khayelitsha, where our unique products are sold, weaving and printing workshops may be visited and Educare programmes are based.

What you can see

Philani's Development Centre was opened in 1995. Designed as a compound built around a lawned courtyard, it presents an oasis of green in the middle of dense township housing. In 2007, building began to expand our school and women's clinic to include new consulting rooms and dental clinics, as well as to provide new printing and training workshops.

You can visit our school and weaving and printing workshops and enjoy some ethical retail therapy in our vibrant shop.

Feel free to look around, talk to our staff and visit our Educare children in class.

How to find us

Philani is c.30 mins drive from the centre of Cape Town and c.15 mins drive from Cape Town International Airport.

Take the N2 freeway to Exit 25 (Mew Way - Khayelitsha), then take 6 right turns: right at the end of the off-ramp, right at the traffic lights (into Lansdowne Road), right before the Caltex petrol station, first right opposite the petrol station, first right again, then first right by the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. Philani is straight ahead.
