Princess Madeleine of Sweden visits Philani, 27 August 2008
On 27 August, Her Royal Highness, Princess Madeleine of Sweden, spent a day at Philani, with a team from the World Childhood Foundation (Childhood), with which she is currently working. Childhood is a major funder of Philani’s Outreach programme and has recently extended its commitment to 2011, as well as funding the first two years of Philani’s new Orphans & Vulnerable Children programme. The Princess and Childhood staff attended meetings with Outreach programme staff and clients and made home visits in Khayelitsha to mothers and children on the programme. Philani staff and mothers were delighted to meet the Princess, as well as to receive a surprise visit during the afternoon from our patron, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.
