AWARDSImpumelelo AwardsPhilani is honoured to have been twice the recipient of awards from South Africa's prestigious Impumelelo Innovations Award Trust.In 2000 the Nutrition Project was presented with an award and in 2005 the work of Philani's Outreach (IMCI) programme was recognized with a Gold Award. Impumelelo's awards recognize innovative work in the fields of poverty reduction and community development and acknowledge the contribution organizations such as Philani have made to public life in South Africa.
SWEA InternationalIn 2005 Ingrid le Roux, Philani's co-founder and Medical Doctor, was elected Woman of the Year by SWEA International (Swedish Women's Educational Association). This distinguished accolade was awarded in recognition of Ingrid's many years of commitment to improving the lives of the poorest families in Cape Town's informal settlements, through her work with Philani.
